Guys, are you feeling all stressed
out about shopping for a Valentine’s Day gift for your
girlfriend? Are you concerned about choosing just
the right gift? It can be tough to pick a gift
that is not too romantic - yet is romantic enough - for
the present stage of your relationship.
If you have just started dating your
girlfriend, an expensive gift may be inappropriate.
At the same time, you don't want to risk giving a gift
which makes your girlfriend think you are not serious
about this relationship. Balancing these things
can make buying a gift for your girlfriend on
Valentine’s Day a very difficult task, so here are some
tips to help you send just the message you are looking
for.
First, carefully consider where you
are at in your relationship. Is this a new
relationship? If so, you want to keep your gift
light-hearted and fairly traditional. If you and
your girlfriend have been together for several months
and you are both strongly committed to each other, you
might want to consider a more expensive or extravagant
gift.
If you have been dating for a short
time and aren’t really sure where the relationship is
going, a traditional gift of flowers, candy, and/or
dinner out are always appropriate Valentine's day gifts.
These kinds of gifts say you are interested and care
about her, without putting too much emphasis on the
relationship being serious.
Be aware that a gift of yellow roses
is usually meant to symbolize friendship and not
romantic love. If your girlfriend particularly
loves yellow roses and you want to make sure she get a
romantic message, include a Valentine's day card that is
sure to get that point across. It is also
acceptable to give any kind of flower that you know your
girlfriend likes, not just roses.
A bottle of wine or other favorite
beverage and a nice dinner - whether at home or out - is
always a great Valentine activity. Add a single
red rose to this gift for a dramatically elegant
statement without overdoing it in a newer relationship.
If you want to give her jewelry, keep
the cost and type of gift in keeping with the current
stage of your relationship. Unless you are sure
the relationship is heading toward marriage, give
something besides a ring for Valentine's day.
Earrings, necklaces, and bracelets are all welcome
Valentine's day gifts without putting undue pressure on
a relationship. They send the message that you
would like to see your relationship continue to grow
more serious, but that you are willing to take it at a
pace that is comfortable for your girlfriend.
