Flowers are undoubtedly one of the
most popular Valentine's gifts of all time. In
fact, flowers are so commonly given that many men give
flowers along with other gifts as opposed to giving
flowers as the gift.
However, many men
often make the mistake of thinking red roses are the
only flowers suitable for Valentine’s Day. This is
simply not true. There are not only other flowers
which are appropriate but there are also a number of
different ways to give flower related gifts. Here's a
few ideas for giving flowers on Valentine’s Day.
Roses are lovely,
but on Valentine’s Day they are probably more expensive
than any other time of year. And the truth is,
your partner may prefer another flower over roses.
Any type of flower which your partner really likes and
will appreciate can make an appropriate Valentine’s Day
gift.
Your partner will
most likely be extremely touched by the fact that you
know them well enough to know what their favorite flower
is. Your gift will reflect thoughtfulness, rather
than a last minute dash to the florist for red roses.
Potted plants are
a great way to give the gift of flowers on Valentine’s
Day. These last much longer than cut flowers,
which means your partner will be able to enjoy the gift
for much longer. There are a large variety of
different types of plants available. If you know
what type of plants your partner likes, you can often
find a large and lovely plant for the same or less cost
as cut flowers.
If you are not
sure you can simply select a plant which you think your
partner will find aesthetically pleasing. If you
get it wrong, your partner can easily return it for a
plant of their liking.
You might also
consider giving artificial flowers on Valentine’s Day.
This might seem like a cop-out, but artificial flowers
are now actually made to look quite lifelike, and some
women actually prefer artificial flowers to real
flowers. This may be because artificial flowers
require very little long term care.
Unlike potted
plants which can be difficult to maintain and may die as
a result of too much water, not enough water, too much
sunlight, not enough sun or any number of factors,
artificial plants only need to be cleaned and dusted
regularly to maintain their appearance.
A final way to
give the gift of flowers on Valentine’s Day is to give
your partner seeds or bulbs which they can plant in
their own backyard. This can be a great deal of
fun because it can be something you and your partner can
do together. This type of gift is especially a
good idea if your partner has an interest in gardening.
If your partner does not have much of
an interest in gardening, you could make a very special
gift of a book on flower gardening and a homemade coupon
offering your services to help. This not only
makes the gift more special, it gives you an opportunity
to spend some quality time together planting the
flowers. |
